I am the human behind this page.

My name is Yoann Chaudet (/jɔ.an ʃo.dɛ/). I was born and raised in France, studied and worked there for a time, then lived in China for several years before eventually calling the Pacific Northwest home.

I became interested in computer science and programming at a young age and later pursued it more formally in college. For over a decade, I have worked as a software engineer and engineering manager, building large scale distributed systems and helping high performing teams grow. This is a personal space though, not a résumé. If you are here for professional details, you will find those elsewhere.

I am married to my Chinese wife, and we have two curious young sons. Their polycultural upbringing and ease with multiple languages has become a wonderful excuse to rediscover the world together. This site is not about them, but they inevitably shape everything I do. Family, work, and everything in between are deeply intertwined in my life.

In a very Confucian sense, I consider myself lucky to do what I love, in a way that rarely feels like work.
